RESTAURANT ACCOUNTANT
Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the restaurant. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in the restaurant industry and will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient bookkeeping processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Monthly Reconciliation:Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Financial Reporting:Prepare and present monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for restaurant management.
• Budgeting & Forecasting:Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing insights and variance analysis to management.
• Inventory Management:Track and manage inventory purchases and costing to ensure efficient use of resources and compliance with food cost targets.
• Compliance & Taxation:Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and assist in preparing tax filings, ensuring all financial practices conform to legal standards.
• Payroll Management:Process payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with employment laws.
• Internal Controls:Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard assets and streamline financial operations.
• Data Management:Utilize accounting software to manage financial data and generate reports. Familiarity with restaurant-specific accounting software is a plus.
• Collaboration:Work closely with restaurant management and staff to provide financial insights and support operational efficiency.
QQualifications:
• Proven experience as an Accountant or Bookkeeper, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, specifically related to the restaurant industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Toast POS, Restaurant 365) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial team members.
• Understanding of payroll systems and tax regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working conditions
Office is in Downtown Dallas. Must be able to work in an office environment. Normal hours are 8-5; expect longer hours during month-end and year-end close.
Physical requirements
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and 10-key. May need to bend, stoop, & lift 25 pounds to shoulder level.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

• Accounting: 6 years (Preferred)
• Microsoft Excel: 2 years (Required)
• Restaurant 365 accounting software: 1 year (Preferred)
• QuickBooks: 3 years (Required)
