Salary Range:$22.00 β $28.00/hour
Job Description:QED Systems, Inc., a ship repair company, has an opening for a Marine Welder/Brazier. The individual will report directly to the Project Supervisor who is leading a team of tradesmen installing Ship Alterations on U.S Navy ships.
Job Requirements/skill sets:
β’ Minimum of 5 years of shipyard Welding or Brazing experience.
β’ The candidate must have a current or prior NAVSEA, ABS, or AWS certification in at least two welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, or GTAW) and two base metals (OSS, HY, SS, AL, or CuNi).
β’ The candidate must pass a welding practical test and workmanship written exam which will be administered prior to hire.
β’ The candidate must be able to interpret NAVSEA technical drawings and understand welding symbols on drawings.
β’ Must be able to carry heavy equipment up to 50 pounds, such as welding machines, gas bottles, and fire extinguishers.
β’ Must have experience using hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery.
β’ Experience with a plasma cutter is a plus.
β’ Must be able to work aboard ships and under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, climb vertical & inclined ladders, and follow safety regulations.
β’ Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as eye protection, hard hat, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
β’ Must provide own set of welderβs personal protective equipment (PPE).
β’ Will be required to follow instructions of supervisors, such as clean welds, clean work areas, and to perform other duties as assigned by their Supervisor.
Education Requirements:Candidate shall have a high school diploma/GED.
Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access:U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards. Must have a government issued ID card (such as a REAL ID or a U.S. passport or passport card).
