Job Description

Reporting to the Nursing Director or Manager, this positionrequires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling themission of Redlands Community Hospital. It is expected the employeedemonstrates behavior consistent with our Standards of Performance. The ChargeNurse adheres to the Patient’s First Philosophy of Safety, Compassion, andEfficiency. S/he is able to coordinate care not only for individual patients,but also to lead the care delivery of multiple patients in the nursing carearea in accordance with policies and procedures of the Hospital. S/hecollaborates with other professional disciplines/unit leaders to ensure safeand effective patient care delivery. S/he is responsible for assigning nursingpersonnel to specific patients for whom they will care for based upon theirskill, experience and temperament, and the acuity of the patients. Thisposition serves as resource of information and coordinates all activitieswithin the department. Responsibilities and related duties to be carried out bythe Charge Nurse as delegated by the Nurse Manager with the appropriate levelof authority and ability to utilize independent judgment to ensure compliance

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

1. Graduateof an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program required.

2. Threeto five years of relevant experience in the assigned service area preferred.

3. Demonstratedexpertise in the clinical area, and leadership ability preferred.

4. Basicknowledge of computer (Word, Excel, and e-mail functions).

5. BSNpreferred, MSN desired.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

1. Current CA State licensure as a Registered Nurse required.

2. Current CPR certificate required.

3. Current ACLS certificate required

4. NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire

5. PCCN preferred Current NRP certificate required
