Construction Laborer

FPS Civil is seeking construction Laborers to perform tasks involving physical labor on heavy civil underground construction projects. Laborers may operate a variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare job sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble/debris, and remove waste materials. Candidate will be expected to meet company attendance standards and may be required to pass a background check as some of our job sites have high security clearance requirements. Compliance with all Company safety policies, OSHA, job site requirements, and site safety standards is absolutely required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Works in a safety sensitive position in and around heavy construction equipment. • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor. • Maintains a clean job site, pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards. • Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools such as pneumatic, electric, gasoline, and hand tools. • Performs skilled and unskilled work involving strenuous tasks often under adverse climatic conditions. • Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers and falling objects. • Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Ready and working at start of shift. • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions. • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule. • Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines. • Performs assigned tasks according to applicable policies and procedures and assures safety standards are maintained. Performs a quality job the first time. Minimum Qualifications: • Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used on civil construction jobsites. • Must be able to pass a background check to work in secure construction sites • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English Work Environment/Physical Demands: • Minimum 40 hours per week with overtime as needed. Some weekend and night work required depending on job requirements. • Hearing sufficient for being aware of back-up alarms, hearing equipment and for normal conversations. • Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds, walk, climb, stand, bend and stoop for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and adhere to applicable safety policies. • Must be able to complete work tasks under various weather conditions including heat in excess of 100 degrees. • Acceptable level of correctable vision for Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral and Depth Perception. • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, steel toe boots, seat belt, gloves, etc. • Use of both arms and legs required.
