Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator and Project Manager who will be responsible for analyzing project requirements, developing project take-offs, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the bidding process to secure contracts for electric transmission, distribution, and substation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical transmission, distribution, and substation systems and construction practices, coupled with excellent analytical and communication skills. Additionally, as capacity allows and the business necessitates, this individual will be asked to act as a Project Manager and will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while maintaining safety and quality standards. Responsibilities: β€’ Understand and interpret project requirements from customer provided documentation β€’ Determine key variables for cost and other estimates β€’ Gather first-hand information from sites, or other venues β€’ Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times, etc. β€’ Participate in bid reviews and attend pre-bid meetings/job walks β€’ Ability to analyze time, equipment, tools, manpower and material requirements for each project β€’ Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors β€’ Calculate take-offs for estimate preparation β€’ Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs, etc.) β€’ Create, prepare and submit full proposal packages, ROM estimate reports or bids to appropriate people (leadership, project managers, clients, etc.) β€’ Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and performance standards β€’ Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting; utilize internal estimating documents and provide templatized bid submittals for leadership review β€’ Must be able to give oversight, coordination, & management support for all aspects of electrical construction projects, working collaboratively with union craft linemen β€’ Ability to work with & hold high-level client interaction & project satisfaction with field contacts β€’ Must be able to report job productivity & project progression to Senior Management and the ability to adhere to original estimate and bill/track progress β€’ Identify and report all potential schedule changes and workflow of scheduling issues; submit change orders β€’ Frequently visit job sites to have up to date, firsthand knowledge of project progression and status Requirements: β€’ Robust knowledge of electrical T&D, substation systems, with proficiency in reading plans, specifications, and construction drawings β€’ In-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas β€’ Strong analytical and decision-making skills to manage complex projects and challenges β€’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, and all levels of employees/coworkers β€’ Strong ability to lead diverse teams and foster a collaborative work environment β€’ Ability to meet deadlines and work independently β€’ Must be able to anticipate & meet customer needs β€’ Organizational skills necessary to prioritize and track multiple projects β€’ Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions β€’ Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including use of Excel β€’ Proficiency in project management software, such as MS Project or Primavera Qualifications: β€’ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience β€’ Experience: Minimum of 5 years of estimating & project management experience in electrical transmission and distribution construction field β€’ Certifications: Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) would be an asset Work in person: Mesa, AZ Travel: 10-20% Arizona based traveling; could travel to out of state bids and/or projects Job Type: Full-time Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year Benefits: β€’ 401(k) matching β€’ Dental insurance β€’ Health insurance β€’ Vision insurance Schedule: β€’ 8 hour shift Work Location: In person
