Job Description
As a Data Scientist I/II you will directly impact Slingshot’s vision; to accelerate space sustainability to create a safer and more connected world. In your new role, you will develop data sets, and assist in coding simulations, algorithms, and prototypes that lend insights into key business arenas and future opportunities. Your work will help integrate cutting-edge approaches into Slingshot data science software products, and bolster dataset development, research, insights, and predictions. You will join a strong matrixed data science team and culture, and identify and design data science products, business concepts, and outreach activities. Finally, in your new role you will identify, lead, and deliver insights as datasets, code bases, papers, internal communications, and IP.
Pre-Requisites- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for government clearances.
- Bachelors degree plus 2 years experience with degree in mathematics, data science, physics, or other quantitative discipline (or >8 years industry experience) .
- Conceptualize and compose analysis-ready data sets, build processes to develop data sets, and engineer relevant features for machine learning applications.
- Conduct quantitative data science and statistical investigations, with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: (a) machine learning approaches; (b) self-supervised learning; (c) generative models; (d) reinforcement learning.
- Strong background with unstructured data analysis, visualization, and approaches.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data set and algorithm development and implementation in a formal programming language (e.g. Julia, Python, java/kotlin, C/C++).
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary matrixed teams in a fast-paced, evolving operational environment that spans military, government, and industry partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Presented, developed, and/or published on a subject employing data science machine learning and simulation methods for insights, predictions, or dataset creation.
- Experience with aerospace and astrodynamics research questions, specifically as they relate to GNSS.
- Understanding and experience with signals data.
- Ability to demonstrate creative solutions to challenging projects.
- Development of algorithms for use in environmental, physical, or biological behavior prediction.
- Experience working on a team charged with the development, implementation, and transition of technology to production.
