Electrical Maintenance Technician / Shop Electrician

Job Summary: The Electrical Maintenance Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems within our production facilities. This position involves installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining low/medium/high voltage electric power cables and equipment, adhering to electrical principles, procedures, and safety standards at 110V, 220V, 480V, 5kV, and 15kV. Ideal candidates will possess robust mechanical skills and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment. Key Responsibilities: • Inspection & Testing: Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and data collection on low and medium voltage electrical systems on test pads. • Certification & Calibration: Ensure equipment is functional and certified, maintaining calibration of testing equipment. • Maintenance & Reporting: Conduct equipment repairs, replacements, and maintenance, documenting all activities. • Electrical Work: Execute terminations and repairs on low and medium voltage cabling (110V, 220V, 480V, 5kV, 15kV). • System Management: Land connections on transformers, switchgear, switches, generators, and turbines. • Switching Operations: Test and operate switches/breakers to energize/de-energize lines or equipment. • Safety Protocols: Adhere to proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and apply grounding devices and locks. • Installation & Troubleshooting: Install and maintain transformers, capacitors, insulators, switches, and circuit breakers; consult manuals and diagrams to diagnose issues. • Compliance: Follow all safety and environmental regulations, contributing to a culture of safety and reliability. • Physical Requirements: Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 45 lbs. • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management. • Tool Requirements: Must have own tools for the designated work scope. Qualifications: • Education:Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or Licensed Electrician preferred. • Experience: • Proven experience with terminations and splicing. • Strong knowledge of AC/DC systems and protective relay equipment (e.g., SEL, ABB, GE, Siemens). • Hands-on experience with low, medium, and high voltage equipment (e.g., circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motors, load banks, generators, and turbines). • Familiarity with troubleshooting using schematics and wiring diagrams. • Technical Skills:Ability to use testing instruments and electrician’s hand tools effectively. • Computer Skills:Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. • Communication Skills: Strong ability to work effectively with team members, contractors, and vendors.
