Job Description
ColdQuanta is the world leader in cold atom quantum technology harnessing the versatile power of atoms to build the future: the most precise timekeeping systems, the most sensitive RF detectors, the most scalable platform for quantum computing. At ColdQuanta, cooling matter to temperatures just millionths of a degree above absolute zero to exploit matter's quantum properties is an everyday reality. Our Quantum Computing team has developed the world's first universal, gate-model quantum computer using cold atoms. Quantum computing is a novel computing modality that uses the bizarre properties of quantum mechanics to process information in a fundamentally new way. Quantum information processing has the potential to revolutionize industries from finance to medicine to materials science and to advance humanity's understanding of the universe. Come help us lead the revolution!
Operation of ColdQuanta's quantum computers rely on precise sequences execution of pulses of light, microwaves, electric, and magnetic fields which are formed and delivered by laser, electronic, and opto-mechanical systems and orchestrated by a sophisticated embedded control system. ColdQuanta is looking for a seasoned Embedded Systems Engineer to help with design and implementation of this control architecture. Where can you use your embedded systems expertise in a more exciting context than manipulating individual atoms by shooting them with laser beams?
You will be working with scientists and engineers to deliver high-performance real time embedded systems and will be a key contributor to improving performance in current and future quantum computing systems. A lot of your time will be spent on RF synthesis for laser modulation but will have opportunities to work on other novel beam steering technologies, magnetic field generation, and high-bandwidth servos.
You will deploy fearlessly with high test coverage and fully leverage our CI pipelines and hardware test beds to have confidence that your designs will work as you expect.
You will work with software engineers to integrate your systems into the larger quantum computer framework.
You will be a key contributor towards developing control system architectures for future quantum computing projects.
Requirements
You probably have a bachelors or masters degree in Embedded Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science and have at least 5 years of relevant experience. If you took a different path, apply and tell us about your journey!
You are comfortable working in a Linux environment and are at least proficient in Python.
You are highly proficient in at least one of the two following areas:
You have experience with high-performance control systems. You will make the highest impact to our team if you have experience with:
Benefits
This position will pay $160,000 - $220,000
