To support progress across our industry, we provide state-of-the-art components and vertically integrated infrastructure for others to build on via Science Foundry.

We are developing a biohybrid brain-computer interface to increase the number of interface channels by several orders of magnitude. We are extending our pilot work on this subject, recently posted on bioRxiv, to develop a fully integrated cell-device hybrid that can potentially achieve over a million single-unit interface channels with the brain. We are looking for experimental neuroscientists enthusiastic about performing collaborative research to develop a transformative approach to brain-computer interfaces.

Candidates can look forward to becoming a key contributor in a talented, driven, and interdisciplinary team working to develop prototype devices and explore their functional properties. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience performing cranial surgeries in rodents, collecting and analyzing in vivo electrophysiology datasets, and performing multiphoton microscopy. Additional qualifications include proficiency with scientific computing for experimental control and data analysis, histology, and experience with animal behavior.

Role responsibilities:

  • Perform cranial surgical implants for studies on graft integration and device development
  • Perform in vivo electrophysiology with both commercial and custom brain probes
  • Perform and analyze live 2P imaging to assess graft survival, integration, and activity develop strategies to promote neuron graft survival and integration
  • Develop experimental approaches to test physiology of graft integration
  • Develop strategies to promote graft survival
  • Analyze experiments and present results
