Job Description
We are currently seeking a Psychiatric Technician to provide high-quality behavioral health services to military service members, their families, and veterans at Joint Base Andrews, MD.
Position Highlights:
- Pay Rate: $30.00/hour + Health and Welfare stipend Comprehensive Benefits Package:

- Paid Time Off (PTO) and Sick Leave
- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 0730–1630 (9-hour shift with a 1-hour lunch break)
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program or
- Completion of an equivalent education and experience that meets the standards of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians or
- Completion of military training as a Behavioral Science Specialist/Technician with proof of an Armed Forces psychiatric technician course or a civilianaccredited course in behavioral health patient care.
- Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be current and obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; maintained at contractor’s expense).
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Psychiatric Technician post-graduation.
- Experience in:
- Administering, scoring, and reporting psychological test results
- Conducting biopsychosocial interviews
- Supporting clinical staff in implementing treatment plans
- Conducting briefings and substance abuse counseling
Primary Responsibilities May Include:
- Assist in treatment and rehabilitation of patients with mental health conditions
- Perform initial assessments, including interviews, mental status exams, and psychological testing
- Participate in care planning, patient education, and case conferences
- Provide individual and group counseling and therapeutic support
- Monitor patient safety and implement precautionary measures
- Support general patient care—vitals, hygiene, comfort, and nutrition
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Coordinate referrals and collaborate with military and civilian agencies
- Conduct in-service training, participate in quality assessments, and compile reports
- Educate patients and staff on mental health and substance abuse prevention
- Support crisis interventions and assist patients experiencing acute or post-traumatic stress
