Job Description

Position Summary: The primary function of the Quality Control Technician is to perform quality checks of the product and to support all quality department-related activities, which include safety and environmental aspects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform QC checks, frequency determined by SOP, records maintenance for QC testing
  • Perform Quality Plan data entry and research of quality plan data
  • Use of Claims database, backup duties for Quality Engineer
  • Internal Auditor certificate achievement and duties, gather data for audits, audit data entry
  • Owner of assigned Corrective Actions, including Corrective Action data entry for progress
  • Records maintenance storage onto Sharepoint Drive folders
  • Perform ongoing testing for research and development as assigned
  • Paint trial assistance, data gathering and documentation and related testing
  • Coordination with Purchasing for vendor related duties (ex: PO requests, scheduling vendors after PO issued)
  • Calibration of measuring equipment, records maintenance for calibrations
  • Keeping calendar reminder database for calibrations and QC duties
  • Environmental duties include waste disposal, sampling, inspections, etc. These duties include areas involving stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, air, recycling, and other environmental areas.
  • Keep waste drum annual logs.
  • Annual Hazardous Waste Training class
  • Sign off on waste manifests, tracking of waste manifests.
  • Perform weekly waste area inspections and maintenance of Records
  • Maintain production floor waste labeling stations
  • Spill clean-up or assistance if needed.
  • Spill drills assistance and documentation. Assistance on any emergency drills.
  • Archive samples as needed.
  • Review of procedures for quality system as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate safety compliance in all activities. Perform safety conversations.
  • Assist the Quality Engineer on projects and aspects of the quality management system.
  • Paint Inventory and various inventory duties, and Oracle related entry.
  • Assistance with physical inventory counts as needed.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education / Skills: High School Education or GED preferred, good communication skills, basic math skills, reading comprehension skills, basic computer operating skills (e-mail, file maintenance). Experienced in a manufacturing and/or quality role preferred

Minimum Required Experience

Previous experience in a plant/factory preferred, and previous quality-related duties preferred previous experience using measuring equipment preferred.

Equipment / Tools Used: P.C., computer system BlueScope, various computer programs, internal audit database, Corrective Action database, Oracle database, dry film gauge, wet film gauge, viscosity cup, pH meter (if needed), profile gauge, gloss meter, tape measures, rules, scales and balances, etc. Calibration equipment. Metal shear. Waste disposal and clean-up equipment. Safety equipment and PPE. Forms and records.
