Dal-Tile is currently seeking an exceptional R&D Specialist - Quartz to join our TEAM! As the R&D Specialist - Quartz, we need someone who is ready to provide a variety of support such as assisting in developing and industrialize innovative products.

Primary Objective

This position will assist in developing innovative products for quartz and other markets; design & build laboratory prototypes and follow the industrialization of new designs.

Major Function and Scope

Use scientific & engineering principles to develop new materials and products to support R&D and manufacturing projects.

Conceive and develop new process technologies.

Design and fabricate lab scale prototypes for liquid pigment, powder pigment, mixer pigment.

Operate laboratory equipment that may include mixing, press-lamination, molding, and other techniques.

Perform physical and analytical testing of laboratory prototypes using standard test equipment.

Transfer new products & technologies from laboratory prototypes to production scale.

Realize new programs using Rhino and Eureka: follow the industrial tests and operate on the program the necessary adjustment to accomplish the required design.

Monitor and report quality and aesthetic results in Quality Control as a part of product development.

Work in a team environment within R&D department, and interface with engineering and manufacturing groups within the company.

Perform other related duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Required

2 years' experience working in R&D and/or Quartz manufacturing.

B.S. degree in Materials Science & Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines preferred.

Knowledge of basic programing for robotic equipment such as Rhino and Eureka software.

Competencies

Must be able to perform hands-on laboratory work. Must have a mechanical aptitude, sound analytical skills, attention to details, strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated high level of creativity. Must have excellent communication skills, a strong sense of urgency and be able to work under supervision, and in a team environment.
