Job Description
CalmHR is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse for one of its clients. The position is for an Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) in Southern Maryland. This person will be needed to work 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, 8-hour days.
This position has no call, no weekends, no nights, and no major holidays. The typical day is done by 5 pm.
Responsibilities
This position is heavy administratively including tasks such as patient education, OSHA compliance, ASC compliance, count and documentation of dispensed narcotics, as well as supervisory role to medical assistants. RN will be responsible for overseeing all clinical operations, acting as a liaison between the physician and the patient, and providing assistance to clinical/clerical staff. Experience working in a PACU is strongly desired, but not required.
- Identifies patient, reviews medical record for consent, H&P and sees that all records are completed pre-procedure.
- Obtains and maintains patent IV access on all sedated cases.
- Understands the use, placement and interpretation of all monitoring equipment.
- Is familiar with the dosage, route of administration, action, adverse drug reactions and reversal medications of all medications commonly used during procedures.
- Identifies an emergency situation and is able to effectively intervene.
- Has working knowledge of all medical equipment and pain management procedures.
- Directs the Clinical Assistant during procedures.
- Continuously assesses patient condition and maintains accurate documentation pre, intra and post-procedure and informs physician of any problems immediately.
- Instructs patient pre-procedure on routine discharge instructions and reviews same with responsible party post-procedure.
- Adheres to all facility policies and procedures when providing patient care.
- Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
- Demonstrates ability to direct and provide patient care in emergency situations.
- Participates in the orientation, training, and coordination of duties of medical assistants.
- Shows appropriate delegation, while directing and supervising medical assistants in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating patient care.
- The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, and willing to adapt to the needs of the facility.
Educational and Licensing Requirements
- Accredited school of nursing graduate
- Valid Maryland Registered Nurse License
Professional Requirements
- 2 years clinical expertise in supervisory nursing preferred.
- 1 year clinical expertise in pain management nursing preferred.
- Equivalent of two (2) years' experience in administration of IV conscious sedation and monitoring, or critical care nursing.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
