Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage departmental growth, including hiring, structuring new sub-departments, and managing the career growth of each employee in the department
  • Manage departmental processes, minimizing and resolving issues that distract from delivering high-quality technical products that satisfy the needs of the business
  • Manage resource allocation, identifying bottlenecks across different teams, and adjusting distribution as necessary
  • Identify novel talent and departmental needs as the Quality Assurance team scales with organization size and requires different validation modes
  • Identify opportunities whereby different projects can be accelerated or supported through short-term cross-team resource consolidation
  • Work closely with Engineering, Scrum, and Product leadership to develop a clear vision of product requirements and the Definition of Done at the story level and epic level
  • Implement metrics collection and visualizations to effectively communicate the state of the Quality Assurance program quantitatively and qualitatively, adapting to the needs of the audience
  • Participate in and monitor progress on quality improvement initiatives as a member of the organizational Quality Management Committee
  • Participate in and prepare qualitative and quantitative information for different certification and accreditation needs, such as URAC
  • Monitor the process of software delivery, escalating and resolving potential process issues as they arise, including uncovering unknown or poorly documented process dependencies
  • Documenting high-level business processes
  • Be an advocate for all stakeholders within the company
  • Assure the delivery of high-quality software
  • Perform well in a role characterized by a high degree of autonomy
  • Communicate, escalate early, and speak out when it looks like process issues become apparent in multiple contexts
  • Mentor Quality Assurance staff to guide them in their journey to becoming the testing engineer they want to be
  • Navigate and negotiate tradeoffs to meet roadmap targets without the sacrifice of overall product quality
  • Be a thought leader and a driver of change in the world of Quality Assurance

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have 10+ years of QA experience, with at least 5+ years in a leadership position
  • Experience working with and mentoring teams of 10+ QA engineers
  • Must have experience designing QA processes, test plans, test strategies, and department-wide initiatives
  • Must have worked within an Agile/Scrum/Kanban environment
  • Has a demonstrated track record of spearheading and designing automation suite initiatives and a track record of successful automation implementation
  • Must have experience with a modern Automation testing stack, such as Playwright, Appium, Cypress, WebdriverIO, Puppeteer, RSpec, Karma, Jasmine, or Capybara
  • Must have experience testing Python within Linux/Unix environments; familiarity with AWS is ideal
  • Must have clear examples of success in working with developers to identify areas where cross-department is necessary to achieve quality goals
  • Must have solid improvisational skills and a willingness to learn new techniques to meet quality goals
  • Must have a robust and developed sense of software standards, including accessibility, SEO, cross-platform compatibility, and user experience
  • The candidate must have a proven ability to manage and triage high-priority bugs and handle a QA backlog
  • A solid familiarity with testing tools, frameworks, and techniques, including but not limited to, E2E testing, regression testing, negative testing, manual testing, and accessibility testing
  • Strong communication skills
  • A passion for delivering high-quality software, and a strong sense of social responsibility

Base Salary: $150,000 - $170,000

This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for the NY - based position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as: experience, knowledge, and skills, and if the location of the job changes.
