This position is part of our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment in Troy, MI.

Summary:

In this role as a System Engineer you will design, develop and validate new products and technology such that capability, cost, and quality satisfy the customer requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and validate new products and technology such that capability, cost, and quality satisfy the customer requirements.
  • Ensure that System Common Process deliverables are completed on time per the project schedule and meet System Quality Assurance standards.
  • Follow APTIV design standards, guidelines, best practices, procedures and policies.
  • Participate in requirement/design peer reviews for projects within and outside the Safety Product Line.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic transformation of customer or product requirements into a total systems solution which meets scheduling, technical and cost constraints.
  • Perform technical planning, requirements analysis & management, systems architecture & design, systems integration & verification.
  • Convert customer requirements into product requirements and design specification. Work with other engineering competencies to ensure proper development, execution and verification.
  • Lead and/or perform technical design analysis, trade off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentations
  • Develop innovative and creative solutions to unique engineering challenges by drawing upon your technical talents, passion, creativity and experience.
  • Focal point of project's technical discussions with cross-competency team, management and customers.
  • Create design artifacts consistent with Aptiv development processes & methodology
  • Take responsibility for capturing, clarifying & prioritizing critical ambiguous tasks. Ensure that an action plan is created which addresses the issues.
  • Drive process, procedure, and methodology improvements to optimize work efficiency at the team and organizational level.


Must Haves (Basic Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • 3+ years professional experience in Consumer Electronics or Automotive Industry
  • Proven record of taking customer requirements from design to production
  • Familiarity with microprocessor/controller based hardware designs, System/Software Architectures for automotive designs, and network topology
  • Experience with CAN, Ethernet, LVDS Communication
  • Experience with Simulink, MatLab, CANoe, CANape, etctools
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management and customers
  • Self-motivated, well organized, flexible, works well with complex issues
  • Ability to multi-task and work in team environment
  • Excellent Leadership skills
  • Passionate about creating innovation cutting-edge automotive safety products


Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Microcontroller/Embedded system & software requirements & design
  • Troubleshooting, Debugging Hardware/Software, Failure mode analysis, Structured problem solving skills
  • Customer Requirements management tools experience
  • Basic knowledge of Programming (C or other language)
  • Some level of ADAS features Experience
  • Vehicle communication & Network management
