Summary This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Expert Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA PACIFIC FIELD COMMAND. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination. The incumbent must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance level for this position. This is a drug testing position. This position requires the incumbent to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental Unites States and/ or other locations outside the continental United States up to 25% of the time. The employee must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft. The employee is required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/ or holidays. The employee may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis. This position requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position. This is a mission essential position. The incumbent must meet the Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) Infrastructure Support certification standards. The incumbent must meet the Information Assurance Certification standards. Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Applying information security principles, IT network defense, networking technologies, and risk management processes such, as intrusion detection system (IDS), Security Information and Event Management (SEIM), and Endpoint capabilities to troubleshoot cyber defense infrastructure, and to communicate effectively to develop and implement security measures. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Education There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-12 grade level. Additional information This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment. This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service. A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service. Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination. This is a mission essential position. This position requires the incumbent to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States (CONUS) up to 25 percent of the time. Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement. This position is subject to Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the DoD 8140 policy series for the position's required CYBER Work Role(s).
