Summary This position is located at West Point Club. A one year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A Medical Examination is required; physical effort includes regularly lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds, standing for prolonged periods. This position is dual compensation exempt; All GS and NAF employees whether full time or part time are eligible to apply for this position. Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours of initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours annual refresher training. Work hours may involve weekday, weekend, holiday and night duty. This position is eligible to receive gratuities (tips) based on the type of event(s) and performance. Qualifications Candidates must: 1. Meet state/local age requirements for the serving of alcoholic at the time of appointment. 2. Be able to lift and carry weights up to 20 pounds. 3. Possess math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory. 4. Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. It is recommended the above abilities be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position. Skill and Knowledge: Skill in mixing drinks using alcoholic beverages, beer and soda. Applies arithmetic in calculating bills and making change. Ability to recognize intoxicated and unruly patrons. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: knowledge, skills, abilities, additional screening criteria and other characteristics. Highly Preferred Criteria: 1. A minimum of one (1) year experience as a bartender in a full-service establishment. 2. A strong knowledge of beers, wines, and spirits. 3. A strong knowledge of mixed cocktails. The experience must be reflected on your resume at the time of application to be considered a highly preferred candidate. All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information Note: Candidates with Special Qualifying Skills and Experience may be brought in higher than the Step 1 rate of pay, determined by the Hiring Manager. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
