Position Overview:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the organization, preserving the accuracy of financial information, and providing insights to support decision-making. The Controller will provide perspective and strategic recommendations to management, driving process improvements and supporting operational goals. This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements. We require a transformative leader with a strong financial background and the ability to drive performance and continuous improvement across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management & Reporting:
• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processing.
• Analyze financial data to produce timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to maintain alignment with company objectives.
• Preserve compliance with relevant tax filings and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and prepare for annual audits.
• Oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecast preparation.
• Maintain timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to internal stakeholders and private equity partners.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
2. Standard Costing:
• Develop and maintain the company’s standard cost systems and processes.
• Analyze cost variances and provide actionable insights to reduce inefficiencies.
• Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Implement and oversee the continued rollout of financial software and systems to ensure robust data integrity and financial reporting accuracy.
• Lead transformative initiatives to streamline and automate financial processes.
3. Strategic Planning:
• Oversee the annual budgeting and planning process in collaboration with the CFO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes.
• Provide strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance and new business opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes, working across departments to consistently improve accuracy and efficiency of processing transactions while improving internal controls.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to drive business decisions and strategies.
4. Leadership & Business Strategy:
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment which adheres to company policies and standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to improve operational efficiencies and profitability and to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
• Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• In-depth knowledge of finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
• Strong values and a bias for action in decision-making with solid decision-analysis skills including cost/benefit analysis.
• Proven ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Able to be a hands-on leader.
• Experience implementing new technology to drive automation.
• This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending and stooping.
• Valid Texas Driver's License is required.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
