ABOUT US Planet Hollywood New Yorkis excited to announce its return to New York City in early Fall 2024 on 136 W. 42nd Street and we are currently searching for a dynamic and dedicated management team to lead the way. Our multi-level restaurant location will also house Guy Fieri’s Chicken Guy! as well as various delivery-only brands. POSITION SUMMARY Responsible to the Executive Chef for overall food operations of the unit and has direct supervision over the Kitchen Supervisors and staff. Responsibilities β€’ Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices. β€’ Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking. β€’ Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. β€’ Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. β€’ Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment. β€’ Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons. β€’ Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. β€’ Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods. β€’ Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods. β€’ Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption. β€’ Estimate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage. β€’ Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service, or for sandwiches. β€’ Coordinate and supervise work of kitchen staff. β€’ Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs. β€’ Prepare relishes and hors d'oeuvres. β€’ Keep records and accounts POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Competency Statement(s) β€’ Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems. β€’ Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word. β€’ Communication, Written - Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely. β€’ Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations. β€’ Resource Management (People & Equipment) - Ability to obtain and appropriate the proper usage of equipment, facilities, materials, as well as personnel SKILLS & ABILITIES Education :Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) Experience :Two to four years related experience Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $75,000.00 per year Benefits: β€’ 401(k) β€’ 401(k) matching β€’ Dental insurance β€’ Flexible schedule β€’ Health insurance β€’ Paid time off β€’ Vision insurance Shift: β€’ Day shift β€’ Evening shift β€’ Morning shift β€’ Night shift Experience: β€’ Kitchen management: 3 years (Required) Ability to Commute: β€’ New York, NY 10036 (Required) Work Location: In person
