Your role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Test Engineer for NASA Parachute Airdrop Test Project to join our team with JETS II.
What you'll do all day:
- Coordinate the parachute integration process, including development of plans, procedures, checklists, test support equipment, instrumentation, pyrotechnics, and parachute integration for the test article
- Develop and execute technical test procedures to ensure proper function of various avionics systems
- Process and interpret quality of test data to include load sensors, impact sensors, GNSS, battery characterization and recorded video
- Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), Anomaly Reports, and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed
- Interface with test aircraft personnel and test range
- Coordinate and execute test requirements outlined by the parachute project team
- Implement test plan and schedule, supervise test preparation, build up, and test execution
- Maintain and ensure baseline test configuration and documents any configuration changes
- Confirm workmanship is performed in accordance with test procedures and checklists
- Participate in daily status meetings of test coordination, buildup, and integration
- Draft test plans and procedures for operation of test articles
- Work in a team environment and report to a project lead/manager to provide status on progress and issues and for support
- Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors
- Forklift certification may be required with training provided by employer
- Crane certification may be required with training provided by employer
- Able to perform duties at Jacobs Facility in Arizona (~ 2 weeks of travel per month) during test campaigns. Test campaigns are expected to occur 3-4 times per year
- Perform other duties as required

Minimum requirements for this position:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering in the field or in a related area.
- Able to perform duties at Jacobs Facility in Houston, TX and Yuma, Arizona (~ 2 weeks of travel per month during test campaigns)
- Experience with testing, integrating, and troubleshooting avionics equipment, low-voltage electronics, or instrumented data collection systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a team environment
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team
- Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- US Citizenship required for all applicants
- BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school
- Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or another NASA center.
- Experience with parachute analysis, pre-test planning, and airdrop test reconstruction.
- Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes
- Understanding of requirements flow down through verification closeout
- Familiarity with documentation databases and SharePoint sites
